Hotels Ban Charlie Sheen

Charlie0329.jpg
Charlie Sheen could have a difficult time getting a hotel room when his ?My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option? tour lands him at Radio City Music Hall on April 8. Sources tell the New York Post he's not welcome at several top New York hotels ? especially The Plaza, where he infamously trashed his room last October after partying with a hooker.

The Plaza, along with other high-profile properties, including the Waldorf-Astoria and the Trump Soho, have all turned Charlie down, according to the report.

A source told the Post, "Many of the big New York hotels don't want the drama. He is now looking at renting a private residence."

Meanwhile, it seems interest for the outspoken actor?s show may be fading.

After initially strong ticket sales in Chicago and Detroit ? the first announced venue for Charlie?s tour ? ticket sales have reportedly been weaker in places like Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Columbus, Ohio, and Seattle.

Will Weak 'Sucker Punch' Showing Affect Zack Snyder's 'Superman'?

Critics, Hollywood insiders weigh in the possibility that the director may be removed from the upcoming superhero reboot.
By Eric Ditzian

There was a time, after "Dawn of the Dead" and "300," when few might have argued against handing Superman's cape to director Zack Snyder and telling him, "Resurrect this franchise!" Then came his polarizing adaptation of "Watchmen" and a disappointing box-office performance in "Legend of the Guardians," neither of which prevented Warner Bros. from giving Snyder the "Superman" gig last October. Now, though, in the wake of the critical drubbing and weak opening weekend of "Sucker Punch," some industry insiders suspect that the studio and its corporate parent are starting to wonder if Snyder — a director with a keen visual eye but not always the deftest storytelling touch — is truly the right man for the job.

In fact, David Poland of Movie City News even speculated that the director might end up departing the production. "Next month would be the moment when Snyder 'decides to do a more personal project,' if he was being given the heave-ho," the critic told MTV News.

Not that Poland or anyone else is suggesting that Snyder has one foot out the door. Certainly helping matters is that "The Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan has taken on a much-vaunted "godfather" role on "Superman."

"With Nolan shepherding 'Superman,' Warner Bros. will likely have complete trust in their collective vision as they attempt to reboot one of Hollywood's golden franchises," said Jeff Bock, box-office analyst for entertainment-research firm Exhibitor Relations. "Yes, 'Sucker Punch' is a creative and financial disappointment, and probably the last time in quite a while that Snyder will be given free reign over a film, but he was never going to have that creative autonomy with 'Superman' regardless."

Yet Nolan's guidance is hardly enough to ensure "Superman" success on the level of "Batman Begins" or "The Dark Knight." James Cameron, for instance, took on an executive-producer role on "Sanctum" — one can clearly see his input both in the visuals and the storyline — but no one would argue that the film resides in the same creative universe as "Avatar." What's more, it remains unclear how engaged Nolan will be as he readies production on "The Dark Knight Rises."

"How involved will Nolan really be? His ['Batman'] casting is ahead of 'Superman''s," said Poland. "[Is] Nolan godfathering Snyder or just WB? Is he there to give script notes or to really assert an influence? It's an unknown."

Poland maintains that Snyder's hiring always seemed to be a move spearheaded by Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov rather than Nolan, since the two directors possess vastly different stylistic vocabularies. In this sense, it may not be that WB is reassessing Snyder so much as that Robinov's higher-ups at Time Warner are.

"[I]t's more about the bosses second-guessing. Will the noise level turn [CEO] Jeff Bewkes' head?" noted Poland. "Could another 'Superman' flop — meaning just $400 million worldwide, hit numbers for most films — change how Jeff Robinov is seen inside the company? ... I do believe that [Snyder] is Robinov's guy and that Robinov's career is on the line here."

It's important to note, however, that Warner Bros. certainly knew what it had in "Sucker Punch" before hiring Snyder — its commercial and critical reception couldn't have come as an inordinate surprise. Nor was its box-office debut ($19 million) especially shocking, according to Gitesh Pandya, editor of BoxOfficeGuru.com. "The opening was only a tad bit below expectations," he said. "If a branded film like 'Watchmen' opened like this, then it would be a big deal. The visuals were impressive and that's a major factor when it comes to a superhero tentpole. Many directors with far less action experience were handed comic-book epics before."

But even action-savvy helmers have faltered with "Superman." Just ask Bryan Singer. The thing is, after Singer's "Superman Returns" failed to resonate with the public in 2006, Warner Bros. can hardly afford to stumble again. According to Bock, WB understands that "it's do or die time," and continues to have confidence that its pairing of Snyder and Nolan was the right choice.

"[T]hey needed Nolan in a godfather capacity, and Snyder to up the hip quotient," Bock said. "Snyder knows how to create a dynamic spectacle on the silver screen, as he has shown with '300' and 'Dawn of the Dead,' and with Nolan guiding the story process, 'Superman' may just be the next big thing — again."

'Sucker Punch': The Reviews Are In!

'... the ride Snyder takes you on is so vividly conceived, so deliriously bizarre and wonderful,' writes Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald.
By Eric Ditzian

We'll say this about Zack Snyder: The guy knows how to stir up passion in moviegoers, whether those intense feelings skew toward the aggressively negative or the bow-down-before-a-cinematic-god positive. Just take a peek at reviews for the director's adaptation of "Watchmen" in 2009.

A similar disparity in critical assessments surrounds Snyder's latest offering, the fantastical battle royale called "Sucker Punch." Some reviewers are passionately defending the film and calling out the haters for simply failing to understand what the director was trying to accomplish. Many more, however, are accusing Snyder of being the one who failed to deliver.

Will you love it? Hate it? Have you somehow never even heard of it? Check out what the critics are saying and decide for yourself.

The Story
"The story centers on Babydoll (Emily Browning), an orphan falsely accused of murdering her little sister and imprisoned inside an asylum where she is scheduled for a lobotomy. Before the procedure can be completed, Babydoll disappears into an alternate reality that exists entirely in her mind. There, she and four fellow inmates (Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung) are performers in a bordello managed by the theatrical Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and run by the cruel pimp Blue (Miami's Oscar Isaac). In order to escape — the cathouse and the mental institution — the girls must first fight off winged dragons, zombies, giant ninja robots and android aliens and collect five talismans. No, Sucker Punch doesn't make any sense. But none of that matters, because the ride Snyder takes you on is so vividly conceived, so deliriously bizarre and wonderful." — Rene Rodriguez, Miami Herald

Storytelling Shortcomings
"The film abdicates so many basic responsibilities of coherent storytelling, even coherent stupid-action-movie storytelling, director/ co-writer/ co-producer Zack Snyder must have known in preproduction that his greasy collection of near-rape fantasies and violent revenge scenarios disguised as a female-empowerment fairy tale wasn't going to satisfy anyone but himself. Well, himself, plus ardent fans of Japanese-schoolgirl manga comics. ... You will be unprepared for a film packing this much confusing crud into a little less than two hours of solitary confinement, which feels more like dog hours, i.e., 14." — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

The Visuals
"Loaded with all kinds of visions of the fantastic and high-octane excitement, it's a visceral feast that utilizes Snyder's signature techniques with all the velocity of a fire-breathing dragon ... But 'Sucker Punch' is not just style over substance. That's an argument the film is sure to be met with, as well, but there is just as much bubbling up under 'Sucker Punch's' CG surface than there is in its sepia-toned skies. Filled with themes of empowerment, escapism, and changing the course of the typical narrative, the film rides high in its jet-propelled mech warrior, and it has much to tell us when it's done doing loopty loops around our brain." — Jeremy Kirk, FirstShowing.net

The Influences
"You could go to see 'Sucker Punch' this weekend — a lot of people probably will, and a few may even admit as much back at the office on Monday — or you could try to make it yourself, which might be more fun, though not necessarily cheaper. Here's what you will need: a bunch of video-game platforms; DVDs of 'Shutter Island,' 'Kill Bill,' 'Burlesque' and 'Shrek'; some back issues of Maxim; a large bag of crystal meth; and around $100 million. Your imagination will take care of the rest." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times

The Final Word
"Some will see the worst sort of objectification in its Victoria's Secret-esque femme front line that also includes the scantily clad corps of Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung. Others will argue that 'Sucker Punch's' sexy guerrillas represent female empowerment, to say nothing of the benefits of diet and exercise. I'd suggest the film is a wonderfully wild provocation — an imperfect, overlong, intemperate and utterly absorbing romp through the id that I wouldn't have missed for the world." — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times

He also had another special announcement for a few lucky fans who purchase a special version of the flick, adding, "And I'm signing some for my fans! #MUCHLOVE."

Aside from what fans already saw in theaters, the Blu-ray/DVD combo features a dance-off between Bieber and his crew, the full-length performance of "Favorite Girl," Bieber's team surprising fans with free tickets and a sendoff for JB's old swoop hairstyle.

Fans already came out to see the flick when it hit theaters in February, helping to solidify its status as one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time. This will mark the third release for the film, which hit theaters twice already.

Regarding the film's message, Bieber explained to MTV News, "People didn't really know, they didn't understand that I've been playing music ever since I was born, and it's always been in me. And this movie is really going to show that I'm not just some packaged thing that some A&R put together. It was actually just me living my dream and just making music.

"Fans will be really excited to see that I'm just a regular 16-year-old having fun, just living my dream," he said. "And it's possible for anyone to live theirs."

The film shows Bieber skillfully playing piano, drums and guitar. It is part concert film, part documentary, complete with interviews from some of the people closest to the teen phenom. It features cameos by Miley Cyrus, Usher and Ludacris, among others, in interviews and concert performances filmed at Madison Square Garden last year.

'Black Swan' Director Defends Natalie Portman's Dancing

Darren Aronofsky responds to comments by Portman's body double that only 5 percent of the dancing in the film was actually performed by Portman.
By Terri Schwartz

Since "Black Swan" hit theaters in December, the film required a certain suspension of disbelief as to whether leading lady Natalie Portman was actually performing the pirouettes, bourrées and pliés the scenes in the movie required of her. But the question about how much she actually danced has refused to go away, and it culminated on March 25.

Portman's ballet body double, Sarah Lane, told Entertainment Weekly that only 5 percent of the dancing shown in the movie was actually done by Portman. It was a response to Portman's fiancé Benjamin Millepied, a dancer himself, telling the Los Angeles Times that "85 percent of that movie is Natalie," which Lane said was grossly exaggerated and thus "demeaning to the profession and not just to me."

But now the one man who truly knows just how much of the film actually was Portman has come forward. Entertainment Weekly received a statement from "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky in which he clarified once and for all that the majority of the ballet performed in the flick is, in fact, danced by Portman.

"Here is the reality. I had my editor count shots. There are 139 dance shots in the film. 111 are Natalie Portman untouched. 28 are her dance double Sarah Lane. If you do the math, that's 80 percent Natalie Portman," he said.

Portman's costar, Mila Kunis, also came forward and defended the Oscar-winning actress on Monday to Entertainment Weekly.

"Natalie danced her ass off," Kunis said. "She'll tell you [that], no, she was not on pointe when she did a fouetté [turn]. No one's going to deny that. But she did do every ounce of every one of her dances. [Lane] wasn't used for everything. It was more like a safety net. If Nat wasn't able to do something, you'd have a safety net. The same thing that I had — I had a double as a safety net. We all did. No one ever denied it."

Aronofsky went on to explain that, when looking at the duration of each dance sequence and not just at the number of shots, Portman actually performed about 90 percent of the dance in the movie. He said that there were two complicated longer dance sequences where he and the production crew used Lane's performance and then replaced her face with Portman's, but that he wanted to defend just how much effort his leading lady did put into her role.

"If you look at the final shot of the opening prologue, which lasts 85 seconds and was danced completely by Natalie, she exits the scene on pointe. That is completely her without any digital magic," Aronofsky said. "I am responding to this to put this to rest and to defend my actor. Natalie sweated long and hard to deliver a great physical and emotional performance. And I don't want anyone to think that's not her they are watching. It is."

When Portman spoke to MTV News in November about her training for the movie, she admitted that it was "really extreme."

"I definitely felt both physical and mental aftershocks from the experience, because it was the first thing I've ever done that was this physically demanding on top of an emotionally demanding part," she said.

Ryan Murphy Drops Out Of Will Smith's 'Annie' Reboot

'Glee' creator was attached to direct movie starring Willow Smith.
By Terri Schwartz

Will Smith's planned "Annie" reboot might be facing a hard knock life now that director Ryan Murphy has left the flick.

The "Glee" creator had been attached to "Annie" since it was announced in early February, with Willow Smith set to star as the title character and her parents and Jay-Z on as producers. But now Deadline is reporting that Murphy has dropped out of the movie after "talks broke off."

Deadline did not say how the Smiths and their producing partner Sony Pictures will continue, but it can be assumed that they will pursue their current course and try to find a new director to develop the film. Both Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are locked in as producers, and Jay-Z is planning to handle the musical side of the project, so the movie still has strong legs to stand on.

Beyond his commitment to "Glee," Murphy has several other major musical reboots on the horizon. After the successful "Rocky Horror Picture Show"-themed episode of "Glee," reports started flooding in that Murphy had met with Fox 2000 about remaking the 1975 cult hit. He was also one of the directors mentioned when Universal started developing a "Wicked" big-screen adaptation last July.

Murphy's decision to pass on "Annie" might have something to do with a more pressing film commitment he's dealing with. In August he confirmed to MTV that he would be directing "The Normal Heart" in June starring Mark Ruffalo. He also has a $5 million open offer from Sony to reteam with Julia Roberts after the success of "Eat Pray Love."

'Sucker Punch' DVD Will Include R-Rated Footage, Zack Snyder Says

Zack Snyder also describes the difficulty of editing for a PG-13 rating.
By Kara Warner

Emily Browning in "Sucker Punch"

In case you haven't already seen, heard or read enough about Zack Snyder's action-adventure-fantasy "Sucker Punch," MTV News has you covered. In addition to our catch-all guide to the film and secrets revealed, today we bring you more from Snyder regarding the highly technical aspects of the shoot, as well as what fans can expect on the DVD and Blu-ray.

"The train sequences were the hardest technically to shoot only because it's a sequence that's broken up into maybe 120 shots that look like one shot," Snyder revealed. "So you just kind of have to know where the camera's going and where it came from, and put these little camera moves in, and all these shifts that have to happen," he said.

Snyder went on to say that he and his filmmaking team had the same sort of problems with the Samurai fight sequence, but they approached them differently.

"It was a little easier to do, but the thing that challenged us there was, of course, the scale was crazy," he said. "Ryan, who's one of my stuntmen, he would stand on a big piece of scaffolding and he would fight Emily [Browning] with this long stick," he explained. "Because she had to have an eye line to him up there. So he had this kind of flexible stick that he would try to hit her with."

Will we see any of that behind-the-scenes footage on the DVD?

"Yeah, sure," he said. "I think there is coverage of that."

Regarding what else will appear on the home-video-viewing versions of the film, Snyder teased that there will be a lot of action.

"There is about 18 minutes in the Blu-ray that is mostly action, because the MPAA was not ... [there was] a little too much action," he said, adding that taking the film from an R-rating to PG-13 was also a challenge.

"I would say that the very things that they [the MPAA] didn't like were the very things that you needed to see in order for you to understand the content of the scene," he said. "To know how to feel about it, because otherwise you're sort of left in this weird middle ground," he said. "So it's difficult. It's tricky."

Taylor Lautner, Justin Timberlake Vie For 'Best Line' MTV Movie Award Nods

'Eclipse,' 'Social Network' stars and more may snag nominations in the new category as voting begins today.
By Eric Ditzian

Photo: Summit

New MTV Movie Award categories come and go. Best Kiss has been around since the beginning ("My Girl" co-star Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin were the inaugural winners in 1992), while Sexiest Performance and Best Virtual Performance lasted just a year (congrats, Jessica Alba and Gollum!).

For the 2011 show, one new category joins the field: Best Line From a Movie. Folks like Justin Timberlake ("Social Network"), Taylor Lautner ("Eclipse") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Inception") will compete to make the final list of nominees.

We should add, however, that we've seen something like this before. For two years at the turn of the millennium, we presented a category called Best Line. Robert De Niro won that first year for asking Ben Stiller in "Meet the Parents," "Are you a pothead, Focker?" The next year, "Legally Blonde" star Reese Witherspoon triumphed for delivering this line to Selma Blair: "Oh, I like your outfit too, except when I dress up as a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated."

While comedic movie lines won twice in the past, there's no telling what's going to happen this year. Potential nominees are both young ("Grown Ups" star Alexys Nycole Sanchez: "I want to get chocolate wasted!") and, well, not as young ("Tron: Legacy" star Jeff Bridges: "You're really ruining my Zen thing"). There are laugh lines ("With no power, comes no responsibility," Aaron Johnson said in "Kick Ass") and deadly serious ones ("If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook," Jesse Eisenberg declared in "The Social Network"). A few quotes are a little too dirty to print in full ("It's in the shape of a giant co--," cracks Chloë Moretz in "Kick Ass"). And then there are two "Eclipse" quotes facing off against each other: Lautner ("Let's face it, I'm hotter than you") versus Robert Pattinson ("Doesn't he own a shirt?").

Which lines will make the final list of nominees? It's up to you, and voting is already under way at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Polls for Best Line From a Movie and the rest of the categories will stay open through April 5. After the final nominees are announced, another round of voting will kick off on May 3 and run through June 4. But voting for Best Movie will remain open during the awards show itself.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

'Sucker Punch' Stars Take A Journey 'Into Zack Snyder's Mind'

Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung and Abbie Cornish reveal their favorite scenes.
By Kara Warner

After months and months of buzz, rumors and hype, Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" is finally about to drop in theaters. MTV News has been on this film's case from day one and recently had the opportunity to catch up with the cast and director for a few in-depth chats.

First up, the lovely leading ladies addressed the film's most outrageous moments.

"I think, for me, when we're on the B-25 bomber plane and we're being chased by a dragon and I'm shooting at it," said Vanessa Hudgens, who plays Blondie. "It's pretty intense."

"I got to do this really fun green-screen moment where I was being lowered upside down on a harness 40 feet in the air," Jena Malone, a.k.a. Rocket in the film, explained. "I had to clear out my mag on my UMP [Universal Machine Pistol] while I was shooting all these robots that I was doing a double-flip over in the middle of a bullet train."

Jamie Chung, who plays Amber, added that part of the fun of working with green screen, particularly a scene in Mecca, was being able to use your imagination. When asked what she pulled from or where she went to prepare for those moments, Chung said she looked to her director.

"Into Zack Snyder's mind," she said. "That was the place that I went."

Emily Browning (Baby Doll) and Abbie Cornish (Sweet Pea) also touted the fight or "dance" sequences as the most unbelievable.

"My favorite thing to watch with my character is probably the first fight scene in Samurai world," Browning said. "People have said to me, 'Oh, so were you just standing there and there was a green screen and they made you look like you were jumping?' I said, 'No, I was on wires the whole time' jumping up and doing crazy things. We did almost a month of wirework at the end of the film. That's pretty cool to see. It's almost like a character in a video game or something."

"I definitely do love a lot of the fighting stuff," Cornish said. "For me the process of filming 'World War I' [an action sequence in the film] was incredible, because we all had solo action pieces so we got to indulge in those action pieces."

Cornish pointed out Snyder's use of high-speed cameras that were used to slow certain movements and make them stand out more onscreen.

"I love the moments where you see Vanessa's character flip her tomahawk and then that awesome throw that she does," she said. "And when Jenna flips her gun in slow motion, I love that stuff."

"That's probably the coolest moment," Browning agreed.

Taylor Lautner, Justin Timberlake Vie For 'Best Line' MTV Movie Award Nods

'Eclipse,' 'Social Network' stars and more may snag nominations in the new category as voting begins today.
By Eric Ditzian

Kim Kardashian Crashed Avril Lavigne's Big Night

AvrilKim0318.jpg
Kim Kardashian is not a fan of Avril Lavigne -- even though she is totally happy to use her as a press opportunity.

One source tells In Touch that Kim specifically told her stepbrother Brody Jenner not to bring the songstress, who he has been dating since last year, to a recent family dinner in LA. "Kim texted to tell him it was family only, no significant others," the source said. "But they were completely welcoming to Lamar Odom, Khlo's husband, so Avril was really hurt. Brody ended up not going to the dinner."

And, after Kim brushed Avril off, the reality star had the nerve to show up uninvited to the pop star's album release party on March 8 at nightclub SL in NYC. According to insiders, Avril was upset that Kim was there. ?Kim was not invited to the event. The night was not supposed to be about her,? one insider tells In Touch. "Kim took all the attention away on the red carpet, and was posing for photos inside as well. She stole the spotlight."

In fact, her appearance at the event seems very odd, since, according to Brody?s ex Jayde Nicole, Kim has made no effort to get close to Brody's girlfriends in the past. Jayde tells In Touch, "Kim and Brody were not close at all when we dated. I only met her once,? she tells In Touch. ?Brody and Kim did not have a relationship.?

One onlooker at the party even said, ?Avril left her own party early. She seemed sad and was not happy that all the attention was diverted to Kim being there.?

Peter Crouch quizzed by security in Dubai after going back to an air hostess? flat?

[Images: Mr Paparazzi/Big Pictures Words: Staff Writer]

Uh oh, it sounds like Crouchy's been up to his old tricks again!

It?s been reported, that during a recent team-bonding break to Dubai with his Spurs team-mates, Peter Crouch was questioned by security at the Millennium Tower complex after he paid a late night visit to 22-year-old air hostess, Suzanne Thunestveit.

In Dubai there are strict laws, which prohibit unmarried couples from sharing a private space so when the England striker signed into to the complex at 3am the head of security wanted to know what he was doing there.

As a result Crouch, who claims he was just picking something up, stayed just 10 minutes before heading back to his own hotel.

The alleged incident happened a few weeks ago while fiance Abbey Clancy was at home preparing for the birth of their first child.

Jennifer Aniston?s Worst Date Ever

Jennifer Aniston?s love life has been a disaster lately, so she was excited for a blind date with a mystery man on March 9. However, things quickly went downhill when her would-be suitor insisted on dredging up her painful past.

?He kept on asking questions about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,? an eyewitness at West Hollywood?s Sunset Tower Hotel tells In Touch.

It was totally depressing for Jen, 42, who, according to an insider, after a string of horrible dates and boyfriends since divorcing Brad in 2005, had friends convincing the actress to try a ?non-Hollywood guy."

But the romantic rendezvous got off to a terrible start when her companion, an entertainment lawyer, didn?t even wait for Jen to show up before ordering. ?It was supposed to be just drinks, but he ordered a full meal,? says the eyewitness.

Then, after subjecting her to a battery of questions about Brad and Angie, ?when the bill came, he wanted to know if they should split it!? says the shocked onlooker.

At that point, a humiliated Jen had had enough. ?She paid the entire bill and left!? Adds the insider, ?We all want Jennifer to find a nice guy she can date.?

Peter Andre & Amy Childs get cosy in Essex, but it?s just for the cameras, right?

[Images: Mr Paparazzi/Big Pictures Words: Staff Writer]

If we didn?t know better ? and by ?better? we mean the fact Peter Andre is currently in a relationship with Elen Rivas ? we could have sworn that Amy Childs and Peter Andre were sharing passionate embrace during a night out in Essex.

However, we are reliably informed that the Only Way Is Essex star and the Australian singer ? who were both being filmed for the hit reality TV show - are just good friend and Pete was actually at Sugarhut to watch his brother DJ.

However, an onlooker at the club told the Daily Star Sunday, ?No one could quite believe what they were seeing.

?Amy was all over Peter and he was loving the attention like a kid in a sweet shop. It was as if they were already a couple.

?You would never have guessed he had a girlfriend from the way they were behaving and giggling at each other.?

That being said Childs wasted no time in taking to her Twitter to defend the rumours, ?Don?t believe what you read in the papers today xx? she said.

2011 MTV Movie Awards Voting Begins Today!

Starting Tuesday, fans can choose the nominees for Best Kiss, Best Line and more.
By Eric Ditzian

The power of the Golden Popcorn is once again yours! Starting today, we're asking you to cast your votes and select the nominees for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in 13 categories ranging from the familiar (Best Movie, Best Kiss) to the brand-new (Best Line from a Movie).

Can "Eclipse" reprise the success of "Twilight" (seven nods) and "New Moon" (five nods) before it? Will Biggest Badass star go to Robert Downey Jr.'s sardonic, super-suited hero in "Iron Man 2," to Angelina Jolie for her acrobatic brawling in "Salt," or someone else entirely? Which star's unforgettable line — Liam Neeson's plea to release the Kraken? Justin Timberlake's insistence that only a billion dollars is truly cool? — will be the first to take home this award? For a third-straight year, it's up to you!

Here's how it'll work: Starting Tuesday (March 22) and running through April 5, you can log onto MovieAwards.MTV.com to nominate your favorite movies, stars and crazy cinematic moments. Once the final nominees are announced, head back to the site to vote for the winners from May 3 through June 4. Voting for Best Movie, however, will remain open throughout the live ceremony on June 5 — meaning you'll have a chance to affect the night's biggest prize until the very last minute.

"MTV's viewers are die-hard film buffs, and we love to see how they wield that dedication when voting for the MTV Movie Awards," said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV. "This year's show will once again reward movie buffs with previews of the year's most anticipated movies and one-of-a-kind moments that become pop-culture history."

The 20th Annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

The newest CW series star opened up to In Touch exclusively about her on-camera kissing sessions with her slightly younger co-stars at the Rebecca Taylor Flagship Store Grand Opening held on March 23 in NYC's Meatpacking District.

?They are both amazing kissers," the sultry starlet confesses. "I mean, is it really hard to kiss those two? No!? We tried to get her to tell us who was the better kisser, but Tika would only tease, ?That?s for me to know... and nobody else to find out!? Or maybe she just can't choose one over the other?

Check out everything we've got on "Sucker Punch."

Justin Bieber Passes Michael Jackson's Box-Office Record

'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' has outgrossed MJ's 'This Is It' in U.S.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson may have dubbed himself the King of Pop, but the late icon didn't hold the box-office crown for long. Less than a year after the posthumous MJ documentary "This Is It" became the most successful concert-themed film in U.S. history, Justin Bieber is poised to snatch the mantle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" has earned $72.2 million in domestic box office so far, passing Jackson's $72.1 million haul. And while Bieber has racked up those impressive numbers in just six weeks, he's got a long way to go before he laps the global receipts for the MJ doc.

"This Is It" has grossed $189.1 million overseas for a global total of $261.2 million. Music films don't typically play well overseas, and THR noted that "Never Say Never" has grossed a more modest $10.8 million overseas so far, with Paramount executives predicting that it could top out around $20 million internationally.

The impressive U.S. numbers were likely goosed by the re-release of the film recently with 40 additional minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu. Bieber still has a little way to go to climb the list of the top-grossing documentaries of all time. "Never Say Never" is currently stalled out at the #3 position, around $5 million behind "March of the Penguins," according to Box Office Mojo, and well short of the all-time record held by Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which has taken in $119.1 million to date.

Bieber set off a classic MJ-style fan frenzy a few weeks ago when he visited Liverpool, England, for his world tour. And just a week later, he posed with his new wax figure at London's Madame Tussauds, checking off another item on the list of milestones to an MJ-like career.

Katie Holmes Insists: Suri?s Fine!

Suri0323.jpg
Her daughter, Suri Cruise, may love cupcakes and candy, but Katie Holmes seems to prefer savory snacks over sweet treats. Katie was at Lavo in NYC for the John Frieda Precision Foam Colour?s unveiling of the short film, The Decision, where In Touch spotted her wearing a chic Stella McCartney blazer and munching on french fries while chatting with friends in the VIP section.

Katie, who stars in the flick, snacked away during the swanky event, where she didn't seem bothered in the least by recent criticism of her laid-back parenting style -- which included taking her 4-year-old daughter to New York dessert spot Serendipity 3 at midnight on March 15 for ice cream sundaes. Suri was even photographed being up way past her bedtime and holding a package of "Penis Gummis!"

But when asked about little Suri, Katie replied, "She's fine, thank you!"

Pick up the latest issue of In Touch for more on Suri?s obsession with sugar and decide for yourself.
