The Boston Bruins are looking to trim down on their salary cap as the holiday season approaches.
CSNNE.com is reporting that the Boston Bruins are exploring trades involving Blake Wheeler, Michael Ryder and the possibility of Marco Sturm and Marc Savard for when they return from injured reserve.
CSNNE.com is also reporting that Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli attended last night’s Phoenix Coyotes-Montreal Canadiens game along with several scouts to begin scouting for acquisitions.
If the Phoenix Coyotes are interested in any of these four players whom would the Coyotes send to Boston? One player that I wouldn’t be surprised being sent to Boston is Petr Prucha who has been healthy scratched a few games this season as well as David Schlemko.
However, there have been reports that Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle is available which makes this writer very uncomfortable. While Yandle is a Boston native, sending Yandle back to his hometown would be a huge mistake for a team that had already lost a top defenseman in the offseason is Zbynek Michalek.
Yandle is the type of player that you can build a franchise around, not the type of player you want to explore trade possibilities with. While these are just rumors for right now, if Yandle does get traded expect a riot in Glendale.
