Reed, Ayanbadejo activated from Ravens' PUP list

The Ravens have activated FS Ed Reed and LB Brendon Ayanbadejo from the PUP list, making them eligible to play in Week Seven vs. the Bills. The team released LB Edgar Jones and placed OT Jared Gaither on injured reserve to create the room on the 53-man roster.

Reed had hip surgery in the offseason, holding him out of the preseason and first six regular-season games. The six-time Pro Bowler should improve an already tough Baltimore pass defense that ranks third in the league, allowing only 175 yards a game through the air.

Special-teams ace Ayanbadejo had been out with a thigh injury for more than a year, as he missed the final 12 games of 2009, as well.

The way we see it

Baltimore is already one of the league's elite teams, and adding these reinforcements only strengthens its roster. Head coach John Harbaugh would not say if either player would dress in Week Seven, but expect to see both playing major roles following the Ravens' Week Eight bye.
