Cleveland Browns: QB Colt McCoy's Trail by Fire, Jake Delhomme's Bad Ankle

The Cleveland Browns are playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. Coincidentally, the Browns have been taking a page out of the Steelers' playbook regarding quarterbacks for the last few weeks.

Over the first four weeks, the Steelers have been without their Pro Bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, having to rely on a group of quarterbacks. However injuries came into play and by Week 3 they were down to their fourth-stringer.

A 3-1 start while blowing through quarterbacks to get to the point when Big Ben comes back is a great job by both players and coaches.

Now the Browns are going into Pittsburgh with their rookie quarterback back and third-stringer, Colt McCoy, starting for the first time in his NFL career.

Not quite the plan team president Mike Holmgren had hoped for his personal draft selection.

Both Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace are suffering from ankle injuries and the Browns had to go out and sign Brett Ratliff off of the New England Patriots practice squad to backup McCoy.

Delhomme first suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1 and when Wallace went down before halftime against the Falcons with a high ankle sprain of his own, Delhomme was pressed into action.

Delhomme suffered another ankle injury during the Falcons game and it is reported to be a low ankle sprain to go along with his prior, yet-to-be-fully-healed high ankle sprain.

There are whispers throughout the Cleveland media and various NFL sources that Delhomme could be done for the season, or at the very least for the majority of the remainder of this season.

Wallace could be out for at least three weeks too, which does not bode well for the Browns unless McCoy can step up and be the quarterback that Holmgren hopes he can be and take the Browns to the Promised Land.

First things first though, McCoy needs to beat the Steelers, which will be very tough in his first professional start.

Troy Polamalu will be staring at you, McCoy, and reading your eyes.

Just a heads up.
